Living with Chronic Pain and Trauma
Pain is a harsh taskmaster. It demands a lot of attention and gives nothing in return.
It can be an all consuming entity that is unrelenting and if there is a bright side to it at all, it lets you know that you are still alive.
I know that when you suffer from pain or trauma, there will be days where darkness and gloom threaten to overtake your spirit, but if you can hang onto the belief that in the end, things will get better, hope is surely preferable to despair, is it not?
When you are in pain, it is sometimes very difficult to think about anything other than your pain but I am here today to ask you to give it your best shot.
I know that you can design a life worth living, a life that fulfills you and brings you joy and a reason for being.
Now some of you reading this may not believe me. You may think that you can’t do anything about your pain, but you would be wrong. You see, living despite your pain is really just that. It is about finding your own solutions and not relying on others to do it for you.
Have you ever read a book or written a story, or painted a picture or put together a puzzle and found yourself so deep in concentration that you forgot to take your pain pills? In fact, if you are honest, you realized that you didn’t even think about the pain the whole time.
This is what I am talking about. Finding solutions to help you get rid of the pain for just a little while, because if you can train yourself to do it for a little while, you can train yourself to do it for longer periods of time. Meditation can be another source of relief but may take some time to learn to do it properly.
Think of it as training to take back your life. The life you are going to design. The life you want to live. You know that there will be times that you will want to do something and pain might stop you, so learn to know yourself so well that you can implement the strategies you need to get your pain under control and function the way you were meant too.
Now I am not asking you to be stoic, not by a long shot. It is not about you being more human than anyone else. Many times people are not given adequate control for their pain. There is NO shame in taking pain pills if you need them. In fact, the shame is on those that do not understand how debilitating pain can be. If you were a diabetic, you would take insulin. It is exactly the same thing, but pain pills are not the only answer to living in pain.
Learn to view the glass half full. See if you can view your pain as a source of inspiration. What have you learned about yourself and others as a result of what happened to you?
What obstacles have you had to overcome and solutions found that you can share with others?
Necessity has always been the mother of invention. What have you created to help yourself that may be of service or interest to the larger community?
Stop living as a victim and start living like the person you know how to be. Take advantage of being alive in a time when technology assists us in so many ways.
I look forward to knowing that you have taken back your life and in the words of St. Francis of Assissi, “where there is despair, there is hope”!

Chronic Pain Management
Managing Daily Pain - With Effective Natural Painkillers and Lifestyle Modifications
It is estimated that almost 85 million people in America live with chronic pain. This number is absolutely staggering. Living with chronic pain, regardless of the actual physical cause, can be the most trying of life events you’ve ever had to overcome.
Many living with daily pain have actually had thoughts of suicide, just to stop feeling the pain. While that may be the most extreme case, it is telling of the impact that pain has on our lives. It robs us of our life enjoyment, of our functioning and productivity, and our will to live.
Some of the most powerful prescribed painkillers such as Hydrocodone and Oxycontin, are very effective at pain management, but often times lead to serious addiction when taken over longer periods of time for chronic pain. Some patients may even start taking more and more, as the effects of smaller dosages begin to not have the desired effect on their particular disorder.
High Profile Addiction - It Can Happen to Us All
Take for example, TV and radio personality Rush Limbaugh’s admission that he had become seriously and debilitatingly addicted to the powerful and highly addictive drug Ocycontin for years after a spinal injury. This drug actually has been demonstrated to have similar effects to heroin when ground up and taken as a powder. For this reason, Oxycontin is heavily sold on the black market, since doctors can only prescribe it for the patient for as long as they need it for their injuries.
Another celebrity, Matthew Perry of hit TV show “Friends” fame, was seriously addicted to prescription painkillers, more specifically Vicodin, after a jet skiing accident. There are storie like this all over, you just don’t hear about them as often because they happen to everyday “citizens” like you and I.
Some simple lifestyle tips to help manage chronic pain are as follows:
1.) Try a natural pain management remedy. There are some great ones out there that attack pain the same way prescription anti inflammatories do, only they do it naturally, with no harmful side effects, and without risk of addiction.
2.) Get a good Vitamin D supplement. It has been shown in studies that Vitamin D helps strengthen bone and muscle tissue. Strengthening connective tissues and actual bone mass has been demonstrated to help prevent chronic pain from occurring.
3.) Stretch! If you visit a physical therapist, massage therapist, or holistic doctor for your pain, they will communicate to you which stretches are best for your particular area of pain. Movement and stretching is a must in preventing muscle cramping and nerve damage that can lead to chronic pain (sciatica is a good example of this - sitting too long aggravates this condition).
4.) Make sure you get quality sleep every night. Sleep is the body’s way of healing itself form the daily traumas we subject our body to. It is restorative and recouperative in nature, and skipping it or not getting enough of a quality sleeping pattern can aggravate many painful conditions.
5.) Eating a balanced diet low in “inflammatory” foods such as sugars and high glycemic impact carbs is going to benefit you more than you can imagine. This helps reduce inflammation, which is the primary cause of most types of pain.
If you follow these lifestyle tips, and find yourself a good natural chronic pain management remedy, you will be well on your way to living a pain free life again.

How to Overcome Emotional Pain
It is believed that human being has such a mind that nothing is impossible for him. But as far as I feel human being has been unsuccessful in doing one work till today, and that is to keep his fellow human beings happy.
We are social animals and thus live in the society where we are surrounded with the people on whom we depend for learning, developing, earning and so on. We have to try to keep them happy for our own benefits. But keeping people happy is an impossible task. You try to keep two happy and the four get angry with you. You plan to give two positives to please them and get their appreciation but they keep themselves busy in finding four negatives so that they can criticise and blame you.
The more you try the more you get frustrated. You find yourself tired and restless. Frustration, tiredness and restlessness cause physical as well as mental illness. Sometimes you get breakdown but even in this condition nobody has mercy on you. Still people are busy in holding you responsible for your trouble.
This attitude of people is just like an emotional setback for you and you try your best to come out of the emotional trauma it causes to you, but generally it is difficult for you to digest such a rude behaviour.
But if you try can tackle it easily. You just have to bring some changes in your thinking pattern. Here you need to understand that satisfying everybody is an impossible thing. Even thinking to pacify even the single person completely is an irrational approach, Always remember everybody has his own thinking pattern and views. You can just influence him to some extent or great extent but not completely. So next time when you are unable to satisfy anybody just laugh it away and say to yourself keeping people happy is an impossible task and we should let it be.
